Our Team
Melbourne Urology Centre’s consulting team is comprised of Dandenong urology specialists Dr Shekib Shahbaz and Dr Tony de Sousa. Both urologists are Australian-trained, having grown up and studied right here in Victoria.
Dr Shahbaz is the current supervisor of urology training at Monash Health. He studied medicine at Monash Medical School, and graduated at the top of his class. He completed his surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, whilst concurrently completing a diploma in surgical anatomy at the University of Melbourne. Dr Shahbaz then completed four years of advanced surgical training in NSW before returning to Monash Health for his fellowship year. Subsequently, he stayed on as a consultant urologist at Monash Health.
Dr Tony de Sousa graduated from Monash Medical School with Honours. He was awarded the prestigious Queen Victoria Prize. In 2010, Dr Tony received the Marshall Prize in Surgical Training for his role in prostate cancer research. In 2013, he was awarded the prestigious prize for the best research paper at the Urological Society’s State Meeting.
