Dr Tony de Sousa
MBBS (Hons), FRACS (Urol)Melbourne Urology Centre Director and co-founder Dr Tony de Sousa is a Melbourne-trained Urologist specialising in the treatment of kidney stones, laparoscopic and robotic cancer surgery, and minimally invasive treatments for prostate enlargement (BPH). He provides the highest standard of individualised, patient-focused care, with clear communication, a caring approach and attention to detail.
Tony grew up in Kilmore in regional Victoria and continues to provide a visiting service to the local community there. He graduated from Monash University Medical School with Honours and was awarded the Queen Victoria Medical Prize. In 2010, as Research Fellow with the Prostate and Breast Cancer Research Program at Monash University, he received The Marshall Prize in surgical training from Monash University/Southern Health for his role in prostate cancer research. In 2013 he was awarded the prestigious prize for best research paper at the Urological Society’s Victorian State Meeting.
Tony completed additional fellowship training with a focus on major oncologic surgery and complex stone disease, in addition to extensive training and experience in all areas of general urology. He is involved in training and education having previously served as the Supervisor of Surgical Training (Urology) at Monash Health. He regularly facilitates educational events for General Practitioners and Allied Health professionals and has been an invited speaker at a number of public education events.
Tony is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand.

- Robotic and laparoscopic surgery – Prostate and Kidney cancer
- Laser kidney stone treatment
- Treatment of prostate enlargement/BPH (including Rezum, Laser and Urolift)
- PSA evaluation and prostate cancer
- Investigation of haematuria and bladder cancer management
